Senior Engineering Geologist / Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Malaysia

A Lead role as the Senior Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer on a Hydroelectric Project Site and as part of the Client Site Supervision Team supervise, review, investigate, comment and report on all geological / geotechnical matters related to the EPC contractor’s design and construction activities.

Qualifications Required –

  • Bachelor degree or higher in Geology or in Geotechnical Engineering;
  • Minimum 25 years’ experience and at least 5 years in a lead role in geological and geotechnical work in major civil infrastructure projects;
  • Minimum 10 years dam and hydro power construction experience; and
  • Majority of experience to be in the construction of large dams and tunnels;
  • Planning, execution and reporting of geotechnical site investigations and construction materials investigations;
  • Construction supervision of large dams and in particular Concrete Faced Rockfill Dams (CFRD), tunnels and heavy civil structures;

Relevant Experience for Assignment

  • As the Senior Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer on the Hydroelectric Project Site to lead, mentor and guide all other geologists in the Client’s Site Supervision Team;
  • Supervise, review and perform Quality Assurance of all geological and geotechnical input to the project and ensure compliance;
  • Provide input to the Client regarding all geological and geotechnical matters related to the Contractor’s work;
  • Provide on-site technical support on all geological and geotechnical matters;
  • Liaison with members of the Design and Construction Supervision Teams on technical matters;
  • Inspect and advise on dam foundation excavation and treatment, slope excavation and treatment, rockfall risk mitigation measures, grouting of foundations and underground works;
  • Review designs and drawings prepared by the Contractor;
  • Attending meetings with the Client and Contractor; Preparation of the geological and geotechnical sections of the Owners Engineer Monthly Report.
  • Supervision and monitoring of large surface and underground excavations;
  • Foundations, materials and large slope stability engineering;
  • Work experience on projects in developing countries and remote construction sites;
  • Ability to develop Client and Contractor relationships;
  • Evaluation of rock and foundation treatment requirements such as grouting of foundations;

Salary & Package

They are offering an Annual Basic Salary of +137,000 USD NET (Based on experience & qualifications)and a package that includes: Marital & Family Status + Accommodation Allowance + Relocation Costs + 1 x Family Return Air Ticket Per Annum + Education Allowance + Expat Insurance.
