Financial Manager - Hydropower - Germany

Join a junior hydropower developer that is eager to grow! They have existing assets in Africa and South America and strong project pipeline, and are looking for a person to assist their CEO in regard to the company finances including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. This is not a regular “Finance Manager” position, you will have an entrepreneurial spirit and drive to succeed.

You’ll be one of the first people to start employment in their new Frankfurt office and you will need existing knowledge of the Hydropower sector to enable to you seek out business and investment opportunities. You will be expected to model finances for future projects, not from a project cost perspective but be able to assess in-country factors which will affect the P&L - financial risk management.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyse improvements for the growth of the company
  • Work with banks of project finances
  • Review of commercial contracts
  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Discuss with insurance companies and bank for the issuance for project guarantees.

 

Requirements and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Advance degree in accounting and/or finance is preferred.
  • Proven working experience as a Financial Manager
  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial budgets, forecast, project financial etc..
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
  • Fluency in both English and Germany, other languages are also an added benefit
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a high-performing team.
  • Ability to take initiative, act independently and direct one’s own work.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to high level inquiries from clients, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Generally, works in an office environment, but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting.
  • Occasional travel outside the office and country.

 

Salary & package:
