Lead Structural Design Engineer - UK

As the Structural Design Lead, you work within their growing hydro and also energy divisions, designing and developing complex solutions in the sectors whilst also overseeing teams within the UK and overseas.

You will need to have a hands-on attitude and input into the technical design work but also the ability to manage a team of skilled individuals and support them in their journey. You will also eventually need to grow your team!

What you will also have:

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartership (or working towards).
  • At least 10 years of varied experience in Structural Engineering at Principal, Lead or Manager level.
  • Experience within the Hydropower or Energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design principles for various materials including steel and concrete.
  • Experience in eurocodes for concrete, steel, masonry and geotechnical design and experience in the design of water retaining structures.
  • You will have experience for concept and detailed design for electrical sub-station work, energy from waste plants (steelwork modification or new foundations). Design of deep pumping stations. Refurbishment and assessment of existing power stations and/or Control buildings.
  • You will have strong experience in structural analysis softwares.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a junior team.
  • Experience overseeing project budgets, timelines for the structural aspects of projects.
  • Preparing proposals, technical documents and reports.
  • Existing right to work in the UK.
