You will be site based on a large Dam & Water distribution project in Southern Africa working for an international engineering consultancy. This project is highly important for the residents to receive water in dryer areas of the country and involves a large CFRD and large tunnels.
As the Project Manager for the water tunnels, you will be responsible for the day to day oversight of the project and management of the design and admin staff on the project.
You will be employed for a minimum of 3 years which may extend depending on the project progress. There is scope for further employment after this period.
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Must be a Professional Engineer.
- A minimum of 20 years of experience in design and construction management of major underground works.
- 10 years of experience in water tunnel development involving the design and construction and related structures.
- Experience in FIDIC contracts.
- Experience in long hard rock tunnelling long TBMs.
- Experience working on projects on site as an expat, ideally in Africa.
- Fluent in English.
Some of your duties will include:
- Establish and maintain effective communications within the JV and with the Client and other parties and project stakeholders as requested by the Client.
- Coordinate technical presentations given by the design team to the Client.
- Implement, maintain and supervise a Quality Management System following the requirements of ISO.
- Responsibility for the finances and invoicing, costs, budgets and cash flow forecasts
- Manage and coordinate the submission of all project close-out reports.
Salary & Package
An initial 36-month contract with a gross salary equant to around 20,000 USD per month (negotiable). This is a site-based position with annual home trips (1-2) with site allowance + accident insurance.
